The Things We Do For Love

Andy Skinner is the proud owner of an extremely well looked after Moto Guzzi V7 Sport Classic Racer.

Andy used to live in Swanley in Kent, but has now moved out of the area. One day he was in the mood for a ride and wandered over that way again, and popped in to see old friends at 21st Moto for a natter and a good cup of tea. While he was in he spotted the LEM Soft Luggage Collection and enquired about getting one for his pride and joy. 21st Moto duly looked at his petrol tank, where the bag affixes, and explained the various options to him. Andy was particularly impressed by the patented LEM Slide System and compared the various Honda fitting kits to his bike, but 21st Moto, are Honda Solus dealers and so obviously couldn’t provide him with a Moto Guzzi kit off the shelf. Instead they put him in touch with Reivers Wholesale Ltd the UK importers for Luma. Step forward Nigel Dearden, Reivers’ main man, and chief expert in obscure questions and tricky enquiries.

Nigel took a keen interest in helping Andy out and got him to draw and send up a template of his petrol cap for comparison to all available kits in our warehouse. A match was found and Andy duly splashed out on what he thought would be the perfect accessory for his baby, the Ovo 8litre tankbag.

But then disaster struck. A key difference between manufacturers was discovered, the kit sent uses 4mm fixing bolts, Moto Guzzi use 5mm. Andy was, understandably, gutted!

But we carried on trying, despite Nigel being away on holiday, and with Andy’s help and cooperation we persevered in trying to get him the perfect accessory for his perfect bike. Andy sent us up the supplied screw set at 4mm, and an original 5mm Moto Guzzi screw for us to match. We went through the warehouse, we combed the shelves, and we were unsuccessful… we had nothing even close to matching it!

Andy despaired of us helping him, but we held on to ask Nigel when he returned, who, infuriatingly, came up with a solution within literally 10 minutes of being updated of the situation! It turns out one of our Northern customers is also a trained engineer who makes specialist kit for tattooists, and has a workshop to die for. Within a day the instructions were sent and the screws supplied to him, within the week a brand new gleaming set of perfectly machined 5mm Moto Guzzi suitable screws  were given back to us.

A quick phonecall to a delighted Andy later, and a new screw set was soon winging its way to him. Andy crossed all his fingers and tried to fit it, and success!

So, the moral of the story is: where there’s a will, there’s a way, and with a bit of perseverance from both sides, you can make anything work! Andy is now v pleased with his Ovo tank bag, and it fits perfectly!

We present you in this video how to mount on the popular Yamaha X-MAX (from 2010 on forth) the “foldable” B-SCOOT articulated lock developped by LUMA.

It can be clearly seen here how the lock gets mounted and works once installed, while its “foldable” feature makes it unique as the lock fits under the seat during the transport phase.

It benefits therefore of all the advantages of the B-Scoot but is extremelly convenient on the day-to-day use. You can check for futher information here.
